A pleasant surprise in Cannes, Hôtel Alnéa is run by a young couple, Cédric and Noémi, who have lovingly renovated the place and given it a new lease of life. It's fresh, friendly, unpretentious and an absolute steal considering the price and the location.Within about five minutes walk of everything there is to see and do in Cannes, Hôtel Alnéa is a textbook example of what a budget to midrange place should be: simple rooms that leave carefully chosen, funky accessories do the talking: Tahitian flower cushions, stripy curtains, cloud-shaped headboards, paintings by Tritchi (the owners' artist of predilection). All have TVs, air-con and wi-fi. The breakfast, with the usual baguette and croissant suspects, is served in a colourful room with big paintings and red bench seats. You can walk everywhere from Alnéa, but if you feel like venturing further afield along the coast, the hotel rents bikes.
