It'd be nearly impossible for this 18th-century renovated granary not to have an abundance of character. There's a great blend of old and modern in the decor. Nevertheless, with 366 rooms its atmosphere isn't exactly cosy and personal, but staff are friendly, the location is great and rates are decent.

Set alongside the water, the Admiral's decor leans heavily on its nautical past. Canons greet you at the door and intricate model ships await you inside the lobby. Brick archways and sturdy old beams of Pomeranian pine meet black leather chairs and bright red and yellow footstools. In the elevator you'll hear Danish music from days of yore (maybe it should have stayed there!) and can watch snippets of Danish shipping expeditions. In the rooms you'll find more exposed beams, fairly standard hotel furnishings, a few design touches and original cubbyhole windows that add character but not a lot of light. Deluxe rooms are much bigger with views of the water and a balcony just big enough to stand on. Junior suites are split-level with a loft bedroom and sofa bed in the sitting area.
