As seems to be the going trend, this hotel is slated for renovations sometime in the not-too-distant future. In the meantime, it has some well-located but very worn rooms as well as a few newly revamped options. The lobby here is comfortably worn with cushy leather sofas, dark wood and marble floors that give it a pleasantly nostalgic air of decades past. Ornate wallpaper and a big banister lead you upstairs past stained glass windows (unless, of course, you opt for the lift). The halls are decidedly dog-eared and many rooms are currently heading that way. If you're looking for a little more kick for your kroner, opt for one of the newly renovated superior rooms on the fifth floor. There you'll find fresh paint, tasteful (though still slightly typical) furnishings and hardwood floors. This place caters well to business folks and also has some family rooms just a short jaunt from Tivoli.

Visit Bon Appetit to partake in a true Danish tradition: smørrebrød. A slice of heavy rye bread is topped with slices of meat or fish and a variety of garnishes. There are very few tables here so get it to go and dine next to the canal up the road at the Sankt Jørgens Sø.
