The five-star d'Angleterre rests firmly on a history that dates back to the 18th century. With ample chandeliers, marble floors and gold trimmings, its ornate, embossed lobby will either make you feel like a princess or a pea.Unless you opt for a luxury suite, the majority of rooms have fairly standard furnishings with some antique touches, but at least they're spacious. Rooms seem to be done in either pink or blue. Opt for the blue - they seem to have consistently more character and light. You'll also find a fairly hip restaurant, top business facilities and a heavenly spa here. Nevertheless, you're paying more to rub shoulders with the 'legendary guest list' of royalty and celebrities than for what you get. You'll also find yourself in very near proximity to shopping, galleries, theatres, excellent eateries and the canals. Staff here do their job well but aren't exactly gracious.
