Hidden down a narrow lane near the crown of Coimbra's hilltop university, this winning, Dutch-run guesthouse manages to squeeze great deals of charm into a narrow space indeed. The price per square metre is high, though for your money you'll get simple, fresh, brightly coloured rooms with wood floors, including a couple of attic aeries with superb views. A fine buffet breakfast is included.
