Split across two apartments, each of the 10 rooms at this charming guesthouse are named after towns in the owner's home country of Italy. They're simply but elegantly furnished with modern fixtures and dusky pastel-coloured walls. Some of the late 18th-century building's original features, such as decorative mouldings, have been retained.

Salerno and Paestum share a balcony overlooking the street. Wi-fi is available and there's a small sauna (pay per hour). Rates include six choices of breakfast dishes, including boiled eggs, porridge or fresh fruit; if that's not sufficient, for an additional sum you can sample red caviar and trout. It's all pretty similar at their sister property Pio on Griboedov (nab kanala Griboedova 35, apt 5) where there's a choice between rooms with private bathrooms and slightly cheaper ones with shared facilities.
