This stunning option is housed inside the former Crutched Friar monastery complex that dates from 1483. The publicity calls it a 'designer hotel', but the past hasn't been overwhelmed. Where there are modern touches, like moulded furniture and padded walls, they accent the historical surrounds. The rooms feature flat-screen TVs and wall-length paintings. Sumptuous.
