Tucked away in a side street in the quartier Les Mamelles, Hôtel Mamelles is a hugely popular place, and for good reason. The colourfully-decorated rooms are excellent value, and the hotel's intimate feel and leafy patio give it a great ambience.If you're visiting Dakar for the first time, you might feel a little stranded in the middle of nowhere at this tiny guesthouse down a tiny dirt road of Les Mamelles. But that's a false impression. You're actually halfway between the bustling inner city and the beach suburbs of Ngor and Yoff. This simple, but lovingly-decorated place is outside any of the major tourist zones, which translates into a relaxing absence of hassle and a rare closeness to 'real' Dakar life. The hotel's small size means you get personal attention by the management - if you want - and feel more like coming home than returning to a tourist stash after a day in town.
