Boasting a list of awards longer than Greer Garson's Oscar acceptance speech, Tigerlily is a boutique hotel for the iPhone generation. Not only is it a shrine to cutting-edge design, it's also kitted out with lots of high-tech trimmings.

From the moment you check in at a small desk in the corner of the sensational Georgian Bar (all glowing white quartz, glittering mirror tiles, fuschia-pink seats and exquisite cocktails), you can tell that a lot of effort has gone into giving Tigerlily the wow factor. Glasgow-based design company Graven Images has created an intriguing blend of sharp edges, lush fabrics and clever colour combinations, held together with a recurring motif of floral outlines. The 33 rooms and suites combine traditional Georgian elegance with contemporary chic, and offer technophile toys such as rotating plasma screen TVs, PSPs and iPods pre-loaded with 3000 tracks chosen by the resident DJ at the nearby Opal Lounge nightclub. There are also plenty of pampering touches such as soft bathrobes, slippers, walk-in, rain-head showers, salon-quality hairdryers and straighteners, and full-length mirrors.
