Address: 199 huang pu road , Shanghai 200080, China
Most hotels along the Huangpu River can get you views of the Bund from Pudong, or Pudong from the Bund: the twin towers of the Hyatt offer drop-dead-gorgeous views of both. With little sense of urgency or bustle, the seriously nifty Hyatt is an up-to-the-minute yet relaxing choice. A sedating use of water and stone, glass, bamboo, steel and brushed aluminium conspire to create a very modern yet tranquilising mood. Starting out at 42 sq m, rooms are spacious and sleekly furnished with iPod docking ports and high-speed internet access. For the full panoramic view, you'll need the River View rooms. Restaurants - Japanese, Chinese, European - are great. Note that the hotel is in the North Bund area, not on the famous strip known as the Bund. The location is a bit inconvenient transport-wise - you'll need to jump in a taxi unless you are happy with a 15-minute walk to the Bund.
