Head past swaying palms toward this North African art deco villa designed by Tunisian architect Charles Boccara, and you'll swear you're entering a mystery movie set. The plot thickens as you explore secret gardens and discover mazes of guestrooms with private balconies and hidden passageways.

Pinches are necessary to confirm this Moorish mirage isn't some kind of movie magic. The stars twinkling overhead in the domed foyer are inset LED lights, and the warm mist in the massage room comes from the adjacent inhouse hammam - but there's no telling where some of the estate's winding garden paths and trickling canals may lead you. The legendary hammam spa will get you ready for your close-up, and the long reflecting pool makes loungers sipping poolside cocktails in butterfly chairs seem both larger and skinnier than life. The 21 junior suites are larger and spiffier than the 10 standard rooms, while the four suites set the scene for intrigue with sprawling rooms arranged around private courtyards. Cultural and trekking excursions are available, but any tough Hitchcock heroine would just kill for Les Deux Tours' terrace views over the oasis at sunset.
