Golden Sands has possibly the biggest inventory of hotel-apartments in Dubai. The 12 stand-alone buildings, all boxy concrete structures, see a lot of wear and tear from business travellers. The efficiency-style kitchens are tiny, but include a washer.

Alas, not all buildings are wired for high-speed internet, and those that are share a central modem, meaning slow connections; likewise in the business centre. Furnishings are utilitarian and bland. Still, this is a satisfactory landing pad for expats.
