Set back from busy Zhongshan road, the Regent is tops in every way, from the gold-leaf accents and exclusive shopping to the mountain views from the rooftop pool. Standard rooms are large and well furnished, complete with lovely deep-soaking tubs. If you want to pamper yourself further, the 20th floor Wellspring Spa is one of the loveliest we've seen anywhere.
