Address: 14 place darcy , Dijon 21000, France
This venerable four-star hostelry, built in 1884, boasts a huge chandelier in the lobby and an immaculate back garden. The 68 rooms are hushed and very comfortable. The rooms on the first and third floors, contemporary and even a bit playful, have sleek furniture made of light-toned wood and dark grey carpets, while on the second and fourth floors sober reds and golds set the tone - the carpets are bordeaux in colour (though in these parts it's advisable to say they're burgundy). The fifth floor has almost pornographic portraits of fruits hanging on the walls. 'Club' rooms come with sound-proofed windows, flat-screen TVs, terry cloth bathrobes, a useable glass-topped desk and large beds with lots of pillows, a breakfast menu discretely tucked under one of them. 'Privilège' rooms are much larger and have a sitting area, views of verdant Jardin Darcy and its fountain, free tea and coffee, and a bathroom that's separate from the toilet.
