The Royal Mirage is arguably the most romantic resort on the beach strip. All rooms face the sea, and though they're cushy, they lack the hit-you-over-the-head wow-factor of some of Dubai's flashier hotels, which is just why we like them: they're tasteful.The Royal Mirage consists of three parts: the Palace, done in Moorish style; Arabian Court, which is more pan-Arabian; and the Residence & Spa, with its majestic spa and Moroccan hammam. Whichever you choose, you're guaranteed some of the most elegant digs in Dubai, with every creature comfort within easy reach. Think honeymoon retreat. Spend your days meandering the lush palm-lined gardens, lollygagging in a cabana beside the giant pool, or strolling the kilometre-long private beach. You may never leave the grounds, especially since the resort is also home to some of Dubai's best bars and restaurants. NB: score the best rates through tour operators and consolidators.
