While not the best positioned city five star, it's an impressive hotel with a stunning foyer and colossal skylight. Luxury abounds, the pool is inviting and there's several bars and restaurants if you're too tired after shopping to head out for the night. This an easy hotel to overlook because of its position (close to the airport) and rather bland exterior, but once inside you realise that it's a quality option that's especially good if you're here on a stopover. The standard rooms are comfortable and spacious with robes and lovely toiletries and the royal suite has its own indoor plunge pool. For those who need to stay in touch there's broadband in the rooms and wi-fi everywhere else as well as good business facilities. Eating options include the popular JW's Steakhouse, Cucina (with its excellent wood-fired pizzas!), and Awafi Arabic restaurant, based around the rooftop pool. There's a good health club that features the latest fitness classes to help you get over that jet lag.

As Dubai's hottest spots are down the beach or Sheikh Zayed Rd, it may seem a little isolated here, however, the shopping of Deira City Centre and the souqs are only five to ten minutes away. While a night out down the beach will mean a lot of taxi time, the excellent new Park Hyatt's restaurants and bars are only a short hop away.
The hotel has a 'bath butler'.
