A luxe, superbly-located boutique sleepover, the 2009-opened L'Hermitage offers a contemporary chic approach with a dash of mod European élan. The larger suites have full kitchens. You'll be tempted to move in permanently.

One of several new boutique properties to open in Vancouver in recent years, L'Hermitage has been the quietest of the bunch. But that doesn't mean it doesn't have a lot to offer. In fact, the 60-room property - complete with its curlicue lobby chandelier and shiny wood-grain panelling - is arguably the best of the lot. Sharing its building with a condo development, the rooms are split between the spacious main accommodations on the fifth and sixth floors (swish contemporary furnishings, gas fireplaces, marble-lined bathrooms and flatscreen TVs) and the larger, apartment-style dwellings on the seventh floor. These bright and capacious rooms have immaculate full kitchens and are ideal for traveling families. Facilities include the bi-level Orangery lounge where you can partake of a cocktail, access the wi-fi or hit the leather-bound tomes in the library. There's also a small gym and a heated outdoor lap pool.
