Lonely Planet review

The most notable feature of this mid-budget hotel is its striking late-1970s stained-glass feature stretching 10 stories up the atrium. The chain-style rooms aren't nearly as dramatic, but have all the basic amenities. The hotel is well positioned for shopping and sightseeing. All 172 rooms of this business-style hotel are set around an open-air atrium. Each is split-level in design, with a desk and living area that's separate from the bed, giving the rooms the feel of small suites. There's nothing remarkable about the mass-market furnishings, but they're comfortable enough, even if some details need freshening up, such as the cushions on the desk chairs, which are wearing thin, evidence of the many office workers who stay here. The bath towels are likewise thin and the utilitarian fluorescent lighting is blinding, especially in the middle of the night (pack a nightlight). If you're on a budget, the Ramada is significantly better than Dubai's tourist hotels, and not much more expensive. An excellent on-site gym, with a solid selection of circuit-training equipment, sweetens the deal.
