Lonely Planet review

Part of the enormous Madinat Jumeirah resort (which also includes Al-Qasr and Dar al-Masyaf), Mina A' Salam nods to old Arabia with elegant wind towers lording over the stately hotel. Rooms are cush, if pricey - you're paying for the privilege of staying in one of Dubai's most famous tourist attractions.A rose-petal-filled fountain and wall of windows overlooking the sea greets guests at the entry-level property of the Madinat Jumeirah complex. This is the least expensive of the three hotels set amid the Madinat's 3km (1.85mi) of winding canals, but it still feels remarkably plush, with the same high-quality linens and mattresses of its higher-end sister properties. And every room has a balcony with a full or partial sea view. The aesthetic differences between this hotel and its sisters are slight: think gold paint instead of gold leaf, a busier lobby, and fewer Arabesque flourishes in the furnishings. But if you have kids who like to run around, they'll be happier here than at the other, more-exclusive properties. Great bars and restaurants.
