As far as top end places go in Cannes, this is small fry, but trois-quatorze (three-fourteen) takes its status as Cannes' hottest design option très seriously, with continent-themed decor, a profusion of velvet, low lighting, zen spa, weeknight DJ parties and a vertigo-inducing rooftop jacuzzi.

This hotel is so over the top that it is actually funny in places (the gnome-topped fountain in the entrance hall is our favourite, and the mauve velvet-covered canopy beds in the Africa rooms have reached new heights of kitsch). Each floor is devoted to a continent (Asia, Africa, America, Europe and Oceania): if you're not into kitsch, opt for Asia or Oceania. Among the most appreciable luxuries are the rooftop exotic garden, pool and jacuzzi. And if you want to be seen in the right place, you could do worse than the DJ nights or the new organic restaurant. 3.14 also has its own private beach.
