Designer cool can often be designer cold and the hyper-trendy Morgan falls on the right side of the line, but only just. The look is all-cream contemporary - nothing too exceptional - but the facilities are all top rate, and rooms come equipped with plasma screen TVs, video, stereo and minibar.

It's tough enough to be designer cool when you're in the middle of tourist tacky Temple Bar, but once inside the lobby - with its white leather, space-age funky furniture - you know you're quite removed from the cheese outside. The 'Heavenly bed' in each room is surrounded by Philippe Starck's retro-modern furniture, and while it's all a little cramped, it makes for a pretty picture. The deluxe rooms, all-cream save for a bright red headboard, are more spacious, but they're not a patch on the suites, which range from junior to the duplex Morgan suite and its Carl Booth gilded silver leaf mirror and a Pascal Morgue double bed. The best deals, however, are in the long-stay suites, where you can live comfortably for an extended period - it's the kind of place Victoria Beckham would have loved…before she made the cash. Aromatherapy treatments and massages are extra, as is breakfast.
