They're not kidding about the view at this family-run spot, where the common spaces look out over the rainforest and on to the Golfo de Nicoya. It is a great reminder that you don't have to spend that much to get a million-dollar view.

You can take in the green scenery while cooking your dinner in the small communal kitchen, or from the shared terrace. The upstairs balcony has a beautiful view as well, as do some of the rooms themselves. And though the walls may be a bit thin, the price is right for these clean, well-kept rooms. Floral bedspreads and matching curtains add a homely touch, and the showers are nice and hot. The congenial Tico couple who run the place are warm and accommodating and can arrange tours and activities for you. Downstairs, there's free internet access for you to keep in touch while you stay in this out-of-the-way spot.
