Lonely Planet review

A Victorian schoolhouse dating from 1861, this beautiful building has been successfully converted into an exquisite boutique hotel that is (ahem) ahead of its class. There are 31 top notch en suite rooms, each named after an Irish writer, that combine an old world elegance with more modern requirements such as ISDN lines and satellite TV.Besides offering a multitude of puns around the subject of childhood education, the hotel really knows how to take care of its guests. The service is highly personable and attentive and there are plenty of little perks to enjoy, not least the gorgeous bathrobes, luxury toiletries and, most relaxing of all, power showers that you could spend a morning under. The Sunday night rate is a steal. The Schoolhouse Bar - in a former classroom - has become a popular after-work drinking hole, and considering that this is Dublin 4, we're talking about the city's power brokers. And finally there's the Canteen Restaurant, where you can dine on really good continental cuisine. School dinners never tasted this good!
