This well-located seafront complex has hosted famous guests from Margaret Thatcher and Michael Bloomberg to Richard Burton and Liz Taylor. Think rich decor, marble bathrooms and all the ritz you can imagine.

This is a large hotel accompanied by two villas - Villa Orsula and the recently built Villa Sheherezade. The latter is presented in full-blown Arabian Nights style, with golds, crimsons, patterns and carved wood decor that may become overpowering. The 4th-floor south-facing rooms offer glimpses of sea through cypress trees. Villa Orsula is more classical, but richly decorated nonetheless. There are superb views from its 1st-floor balcony rooms. The main hotel offers luxury suites and sleek, well-serviced rooms with bright, airy decor and bold Anita Jasprica paintings. Some rooms overlook the sea - try for a south-facing, 7th-floor room as far east as possible for good sea views. Only 5th-floor rooms have balconies, but these are overlooked by diners in La Caravelle Restaurant. There's an indoor and outdoor swimming pool, but the swimming is excellent from the rocks next to the hotel.
