The family-friendly Royal Garden has 30 luxurious, one- and two-bedroom apartments with daily maid service, business facilities and a private garden (with access to Queen St Gardens, also private). The location could hardly be better, just a few paces from Princes St.

These roomy apartments, set in a grand Georgian building, are finished to a high standard with stylish modern furniture, quality TV, DVD and audio equipment, slate floor tiles in the kitchens and heritage-style bathroom suites. The spacious bathrooms are equipped with fluffy towels and bathrobes, and residents can use the Scotsman Hotel's health club and pool (a 10min walk away) for free. The penthouse apartments sleep up to six people, and have balconies with superb views across the New Town rooftops towards the Firth of Forth and the Fife Hills. If you don't fancy eating at one of the dozens of excellent restaurants within five minutes' walk (or cooking in the apartments' well-appointed kitchens), you can get the deli across the road to deliver.
