Korona is an excellent place for wine lovers, with its 200-year-old wine cellar that doubles up as a 'wine museum', and has much to offer the palette. When you enter the reception area, the place feels like a well-maintained '80s-style hotel which casts its net around middle-aged German tourists, who indeed swarm around the place in the summer months.

Since Eger's main appeal is the wine, Korona makes the most of this attraction with its interesting wine cellar ('István Cellar') - a long, tube-like tunnel, with wine bottles along the walls and tables set out for keen diners and wine tasters. This otherwise uneventful place gets packed in the summer, when the atmosphere gets jolly and tongues get tannic. The rooms range from cheaper, basic ones to more frilly, spacious doubles, peaking with the all-round-leather-furniture suite that is the pride and joy of Korona's friendly management. The swimming pool, on the lower ground floor, is huge and there's a sauna, massage room, Jacuzzi, and gym. Outside is a children's play area.
