Author tip

Have a wander down Bath St and check out some of the city's famed basement bars which also do meals and advertise good specials during the day. Bloc is good for nachos. Brunswick Cellars, a suitably dingy little pub, is close by on Sauchiehall St and often showcases some of Glasgow's better up and coming live bands.

How to get there

• Getting there. The railway station in Paisley is two miles from the airport - a few minutes away by taxi or ten minutes by bus. There are eight trains an hour from Monday to Saturday, and five trains an hour on Sundays from Paisley to Glasgow Central rail station, which is one mile from the hotel. Taxis are available 24 hours a day in front of the main terminal building, and fares to the hotel cost around 20 GBP. Shuttle buses also run to central Glasgow, and take about 20 minutes.
  
  Driving directions. From Glasgow Airport follow the M8 towards the city centre. Cross Kingston Bridge and take the city centre sliproad on to Bothwell Street. Continue and turn left on to Hope Street. Bath Street is the fourth road on the right, and the hotel is 100 metres further on the right-hand side.
