Address: Colón & morro streets , Havana , Cuba
You should stay at this place just off the Prado before word gets out and everything gets broken in. As it stands, this fresh and spiffy mid-sized hotel in the thick of Centro Habana offers some of the city's best value for the money.First, let's talk location. This hotel is not only steps from the leafy, laid-back Prado, it's on a side street, so you have preferred location plus peace and quiet (an elusive combination in Havana). Then there are the rooms, which sparkle in that ephemeral, recently designed and decorated way. Here the mattresses are springy, the bedspreads have no stains and the floor tiles are unchipped. Even the color scheme (forest green and goldenrod) and decor is more upmarket than other hotels in this price range, with silk flowers and nature prints adorning each room. The modern bathrooms are gleaming, every room has a refrigerator, and most digs on the second and fifth floors have balconies and views. The reasonably priced seventh-floor restaurant offers splendid views of the bay and the forts, and the sidewalk bar is a nice spot for a cocktail.

Step outside the lobby and turn right for the soup-to-nuts tale of the Cuban Revolution at the Museo de la Revolución; Turn left for the famous Prado, where a marble bench awaits you to watch the world go by. On Saturdays this piece of the promenade is filled with folks swapping houses - the only way to change homesteads in Havana and an intriguing slice of local life.
