This smaller hotel is one of the few that offers sea views in Helsinki. The views cost a little more but you can watch the progress of Baltic ferries from your room. The intimate breakfast rooms on each floor serve up a good buffet.Externally the block-like Palace looks like a 500-room monster, but it's actually rather intimate, taking up little of the building it lives in. There are several classes of rooms, but for a few extra euros you can get a sea view. All carpeted, the rooms have a smart executive feel, with wooden cabinets and soft colours. The rotating TV in the larger junior suites is a particularly snazzy feature. As it's a small place, there's plenty of peace and quiet, and there are a couple of particularly attractive reading/work areas to relax in. However, if you're not in one of the rooms with a balcony, you're very likely to spend several of your waking hours on the bar terrace if it's nice weather - the views are breathtaking. The top-storey sauna is one of the best the city has to offer and is linked to a good restaurant, so you can sweat then eat with waterside views.
