A long-time backpackers favourite, the Seaside is set in a wooden Caribbean-style house up on the second floor, so there is plenty of breeze. The rooms aren't huge and the linoleum floors don't add much charm-wise, but the place always attracts an interesting crowd.

The Seaside has that rickety charm that runs through the whole city of Belize - from its people to its parks to its taxis. The facilities are pretty basic here, but a good deal of care goes into the place - the rooms are clean, the beds good and the linen fresh - more so than many budget options around. At the time of writing, the place backed onto an empty lot which faces the seafront (although these things change quickly in Belize). So for now, the wide wooden balcony at the back is the place to be for sea views and to catch the cooling afternoon breezes coming in off the water.
