If you're pooped from the busy budget trail, then you might find this quiet place a welcoming retreat. There's nothing flash or intimate about it, but it is a comfortable step up from basic backpacker abodes.

Situated in the southern section of the walled city, this no-frills hotel has good amenities and a handy location. Rooms are decorated in standard off-white and, in some, accented by tacky art prints. Mod cons include satellite TV, phone and air-cooling, and unlike some of the lesser-priced budget options in town, hot water is available at all hours. Out back, check out the swimming pool. It's not heated (and will turn you blue in winter), but, with potted greenery and a cushioned swinging bench, it's a pleasant area to dip a naked toe or just relax. Off the main road hugging the fort, it is set in a quiet, mostly residential part of town.
