Wedged against a cliff that overlooks the Old City, the unique Mount Zion Hotel is an elegant establishment noted for its great views, heritage decor and fine restaurant. Because the entrance is from the top of the cliff on Hebron Road, the reception is actually on the top floor.

The hotel is divided into new and old sections. The fact that the older wing (which dates back to 1882) is more beautiful and desired than the new wing speaks volumes about the state of modern architecture. Citadel rooms in the older wing have a balcony and prime views of the Old City. Furnishings vary based on category, but all 140 rooms in the hotel come with TV and phone. The large restaurant is laid out in classic Middle Eastern fashion, with stone walls and arched windows. Probably the nicest feature is the large swimming pool and sun deck, framed by gardens and bougainvillea hanging over the terraces. The location of the hotel isn't too bad, but just far enough to warrant a taxi if you need to get to the New City.
