In an attempt to convey the romantic atmosphere of the royal city, the Hotel Francuski has gone over the top, outfitting its rooms with antique furnishings, attention-grabbing artwork and custom views of the elaborate facade of the Czartoryski Museum.

This is one of the Old Town gems, which is apparent as soon as you step through the sliding doors into the ornate interior. The grand staircase, flanked by marble columns, entices you to the upper floors. The rooms are equally sumptuous, done up in Victorian decor. The gold-plated fixtures and chandeliers in the bathrooms are the clue that the Francuski has reached new heights of lavishness and luxury. Owned by the Polish hospitality giant Orbis, it offers all of the services that you would expect from a business hotel, including conference facilities, restaurant and business centre (with free Internet access). Service is unfalteringly attentive.
