The Kyoto Hotel Okura is one of the major Western-style hotels in Kyoto. It's located very conveniently at the intersection of Kawaramachi and Oike streets - about as central as you can possibly get in Kyoto. It's best known for its excellent rooms and on-site restaurants and bars.

The cool marble-floored lobby of this large Western-style downtown hotel is a wonderful refuge from the crowds of the surrounding streets. You will be greeted by efficient and well-trained staff, many of whom speak excellent English. The rooms are fairly spacious and clean - we just wish you could open the windows to get some of the breeze. High-speed Internet access is available in most of the rooms. If you fancy a workout or just a relaxing dip, you'll surely enjoy the 25m swimming pool, which is usually very quiet. There are several good on-site restaurants and bars, including some on the upper floors with great views over the city and nearby mountains. And, when you've exhausted the possibilities on-site, just head downstairs to the subway!
