This 1960s circus-themed casino hotel is a kooky place for kids and fun-loving adults. Most of the adequate guestrooms have sofas. Suites, like clowns, come in varying shapes and sizes. Motel-style Manor rooms out back next to the RV park aren't too appealing, but some do have mini refrigerators. From the outside this sprawling resort on the remote North Strip may look pretty bizarre - and it is. It's also pretty hard to miss, what with the enormous clown-shaped marquee and tent-shaped casino under a gaudily striped big top. In keeping with its name, the decor inside is a carnival of colors that aims more for Ringling Bros than commedia dell'arte. Directly above the casino floor, free circus acts are performed with trapeze artists, high-wire workers, jugglers and unicyclists. Wherever you go, you'll stumble over shrieking kids and the stroller brigade. Standard hotel rooms in the Skyrise Tower have access to two swimming pools. The KOA-operated RV park over on the north side of Circus Circus Blvd offers RV sites with full hook-ups, a laundromat and pet runs.

You can relive scenes from Hunter S Thompson's gonzo journalism epic Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas: A Savage Journey to the Heart of the American Dream at the revolving Horse-a-Round bar, with views of the trapeze artists, high-wire workers, jugglers and unicyclists performing stunts above the casino floor. Cacophonous Slots-A-Fun, with its cheap beers and laughable lounge acts, is just a drunken stumble away.
