Poised to rule the empire once again, the inimitable Palace remains, for many, quintessentially Vegas. An all-suites tower overlooks a sprawling swimming pool complex, among the Strip's very best. Most rooms have been recently refurbished, making quite a civilized, modern departure from the hokey Grecian-themed digs seen here last century. When it debuted in 1966, this Greco-Roman fantasyland captured the world's attention with its full-size marble reproductions of classical statuary like Michelangelo's David and cocktail waitresses in skimpy togas roaming the gaming areas. Standard 'deluxe' rooms in the Palace and Augustus Towers feature marble bathrooms with walk-in rain showers and spa tubs, as do all suites. Forget about the shabby 'classic' rooms, though - they aren't worth the money. With Corinthian columns, magnificent palms and four marble-inlaid pools, the stately Garden of the Gods Oasis is a divine sight to behold. Goddesses proffer frozen grapes in summer, and topless sunbathing is allowed at the Venus Pool. The only drawback to Caesars is that it's a resort built for gods, not mere mortals: you'll end up running a marathon around the gargantuan grounds.

Make your way through the upscale Forum Shops to the Exotic Cars showroom, or join sell-out crowds inside the Colosseum, a 4000-seat showroom modeled after its Roman namesake. Then feast at star chefs' restaurants - including those by Guy Savoy, Bobby Flay, Françoise Payard and Bradley Ogden - and party at smokin' hot nightclubs like Pure and the Pussycat Dolls Lounge, all handy to Caesars' imperial casinos.
The fountains out front are the same ones that daredevil Evil Knievel failed to jump on his motorcycle in 1967. More than two decades later, the famed stuntman's son Robby repeated the trick - successfully.
