Lonely Planet review

This glimmering golden megaresort's stylishly remodeled and oversized rooms and suites (each named simply after its square footage) have imported-stone entries and baths, pillowtop beds, plasma-screen TVs, stereos with iPod jacks, whirlpool tubs and brand-name spa products. It's worth paying slightly more for Strip views (above the 20th floor).

Many sun-seeking guests feel it's worth a stay at M-Bay just to gain access to the sprawling pool complex with its surf-riding wave pool, 'lazy river' ride and artificial beach, all of which are continually mobbed. Though it fails to match the grandeur of the Strip's more famous megaresorts, the classy casino feels as limitless as the bankroll needed to play here. With its own convention center, Mandalay Bay caters to business travelers. A constellation of star restaurants ranges from House of Blues' Sunday gospel brunch to star chef Hubert Keller's Fleur de Lys, Rick Moonen's RM Seafood and Charlie Palmer's Aureole, which is best known for its four-story wine tower scaled by catsuit-clad 'wine angels'. Note rates are usually lower here than at M-Bay's exclusive boutique hotels, THEhotel and the Four Seasons. The South Strip location off the monorail line can be slightly inconvenient.
