In a converted early-20th-century mansion, the Hotel Antigua Miraflores is situated in a quiet spot. Its elegant lounges are decorated with colonial and modern Peruvian art. The rooms, while sporting all the expected modern facilities, also have intriguing antique flourishes.Standing proud behind high brick walls, this rosy queen among Lima's small hotels is worth a detour far west of the main strip in Miraflores. Staff make you feel welcome as you step through the garden courtyard into the colonial-tiled lobby. Rooms vary in size and style, but all have private bathrooms, minibars, cable TV and phones, with bric-a-brac furnishings. It's almost like staying in a museum. The señorial suites are the most sumptuous, with rattan furniture, Jacuzzi tubs, kitchens and air-con. Don't expect too much opulence, as some of the accommodations can be musty. Service is not exactly efficient either. Airport transfers, luggage storage and safe deposit services are available upon request.
