This sprawling property is a Daylesford icon: if you've got the urge to splurge it's a pure treat. Set in rambling gardens with bridges, waterfalls and cockatoos, Lake House accommodates guests in a series of rooms, suites and units, all fit for discerning style cats.

Block colours of brown and beige adorn the interiors; sueded fabrics and the best linen coat the furnishings. The guesthouse rooms are part of the original structure and share a cosy guest lounge complete with open fire and billiard table. Alternatively, the 'Waterfront Rooms' have private balconies affording views of Lake Daylesford. Top of the line are the capacious 'Waterfront Suites' with individual balconies or terraces, king beds and spa baths. Dappled sunlight illuminates all rooms and the restaurant here is one of the finest in Victoria. Regardless of which room you choose, you'll feel like staying put.
