Address: 39 dorset square , London NW1 6QN, United kingdom Show on map
Two magnificent Regency townhouses have been combined to create this enchanting hotel overlooking leafy Dorset Square, home to the very first cricket ground (laid by Thomas Lord in 1787). It's perhaps not surprising, then, to find that the walls of this hotel are adorned in cricket memorabilia. It's not all cricket bats and balls. 37 charming rooms are predictably small, but decorated in warm tones of yellow, cornflower blue, pink and cream. Tasteful wallpaper, rich fabrics and mahogany-and-marble bathrooms add to the traditionally British feel. Some rooms overlook Dorset Square while those on the 4th floor have French windows that open onto tiny wrought iron balconies. Strangely overlooked by tourists given its central location, the Dorset Square Hotel offers some great weekend deals when all the businessfolk have gone home.
