The Cadogan will forever be associated with its two most infamous guests: Lillie Langtry and Oscar Wilde. Langtry, actress and mistress to Edward VII, lived at 21 Pont St, which was later amalgamated into the hotel, and Wilde was arrested here on charges of homosexuality.

Scandalous history aside, The Cadogan is a wonderful vestige of Edwardian times, filled with reminders of a bygone era: polished oak panels, wing chairs, rich heavy fabrics and a refined drawing room for afternoon tea. The rooms have all been completely made over to a luxurious but tasteful design which tips its hat towards the traditional. Not surprisingly, the two rooms that are the most indulgent (and the most fun) are the room where Oscar Wilde was arrested (number 118) and the Lillie Langtry room, which features rose wallpaper and feather boas.
