The Viceroy is full of surprises, starting with a bland exterior that conceals a surprisingly fabulous inside: Hollywood glamor by the sea. Strikingly designed indoor and outdoor spaces are matched by equally indulgent amenities for party people and the terminally hip. A full-service concierge can meet your business and leisure needs. Spring for the ocean view rooms; they're worth it.

Owned by the team behind the Avalon Hotel and Maison 140 in Beverly Hills and the Chamberlain West Hollywood, this beach-adjacent outpost sports a campy, over-the-top motif called 'Hollywood Regency', by designer Kelly Wearstler of TV's Top Design series. The color palette runs from grassy green to charcoal gray, and public spaces balance the minimalist (highly polished floors) with the sensuous (soaring, curvaceous seat backs) and daft (shag carpeting). Beautiful people mingle by the twin pools, preferably in a semi-private cabana. The Cameo Bar and Whist restaurant draw socialites from across town, as do in-room and poolside spa services by famous Fred Segal Beauty, boutique to the stars. Amenities in the minimalist, mirrored rooms include Italian designer linens, aromatherapy bath products, flatscreen TVs, CD/DVD players; and PlayStation for those who don't want to ever grow up.
