The Dnister's 1970s brown-and-yellow exterior makes it look like a large rectangular bumblebee, but don't judge the Dnister by its Soviet-style cover. You'll see this immediately in the lobby, where the staple grey marble has been polished to a shine, and where front-desk staff understand the power of a smile.

Hotel management - taking into account the excellent location near the beautiful Ivano Franko Park and St George's cathedral - must have decided to maximise the Dnister's potential. The rooms have decent quality furniture and heritage-style decor as well as oddly bright blue carpets. You'll have breakfast in the downstairs dining hall, but do take a trip to the top-floor restaurant, where the glorious panoramic city view blows the one from Castle Hill out the water.
