Built in 1913, this regal property occupies a plum position on Flinders St and is blessed with the exclusive and personal ambience of a boutique hotel. The sweeping staircases, gracious interior balcony and heritage listing add to the charm, and beyond lies more than 300 contemporary and sleek rooms.

The Rendezvous caters to a myriad of tastes by whipping together some decent package deals to stretch your dollar. Deluxe rooms offer straightforward value in a neat and boxy environment. Commerce Rooms are slightly snug, but feature modern style and finishings; opt for one on a higher floor to avoid the bird's-eye view of the building next door. Club rooms are charming with a combination of faux olde-world charm, high ceilings and tall stained-glass windows. A few also have balconies (but smaller interiors as a result). The suites are bigger again. The hotel's facilities cater to the needs of international business travellers and indeed these constitute a considerable percentage of the guests. But Rendezvous is worthy of your dollar regardless of your reason to stay.
