The Hatton is one South Yarra building that's retained its charm. The facade is pure old-world South Yarra class and get a load of that verandah. Perch on high, people-watch with your coffee or juice and just take it really easy.

This lovely, labyrinthine hotel features knowledgeable staff who can point you in the direction of the best bars, restaurants and pubs around. The rooms show real attention to detail, too - the Eastern Balcony Suite, featuring Asian stylings, is a highlight - while the hallways and superior rooms are littered with Buddhas, intricate artworks and antiques from all corners of the globe in tasteful quantities. The effect is subtly other-worldly. Superior rooms are also bathed in golden sunlight, and the simpler standard rooms are tranquil and practical. The Hatton is popular, and often plays host to celebrities and TV stars working at the nearby TV studios.
