Don't be too dismayed by the characterless reception area at the Hero; inside you'll find a collection of spacious and superbly equipped apartments. We can't lie - they are pretty clinical. Still, we reckon you can overcome the blank walls and too-neutral decor by concentrating on the ample positives.

If you're staying any length of time, mess up your apartment to give it a more lived-in feel - we suggest scattering the carrier bags from purchases made in the cool neighbouring fashion and homewares stores. And if you're all touristed or shopped out, a night of home cooking and vegging out on the couch is an easy option - each apartment has a full kitchen (with dishwasher - bliss!), stereo and video. Larger apartments are a good option for families (the three-bedroom loft apartment is awesome), and reception can go the extra mile to stock your pantry or organise a babysitting service.
