Address: Corso garibaldi giuseppe 84 , Milan 20121, Italy Show on map
While this Brera four-star is popular with business travellers, its position close to Corso Como and some of Milan's best aperitivo bars makes it a decent option for those with more fun things on their agenda. The Brera chain of hotels doesn't mind utilising the odd gimmick to promote their hotels. While the Ariston is promoted as being Milan's first 'ecological' hotel, this one has a 'Pillow Menu', including a 'sleep in a meadow' option. Whatever. Fact is, this hotel is a reasonable four-star that, while getting a little frayed around the edges, makes for a good base for shopping and imbibing. The design is rather odd, with a mezzanine level restaurant overhanging the lobby and (free) Internet terminals opposite the reception. The rooms have wooden floorboards and work desk, but look a little dated, as do the small bathrooms. Solo travellers with even a hint of claustrophobia are best advised to shell out a bit more and take a double (common practice in Milan) as the singles are narrow.

If you time your Corso Como shopping expedition to perfection, you can do a little aperitivo hop, hitting nearby Beige, ATM, or hop across to Living. You also have two parks nearby to explore (both popular with runners) and Parco Sempione has even more bars.
You can reserve a hotel bicycle to take on Milan's traffic.
