Address: Piazza gerusalemme 12 , Milan 20129, Italy Show on map
Designed to keep the Fiera di Milano-going crowd in suitably chic and convenient accommodation, this newer sister hotel to the lovely Townhouse 31 is a great addition to the family.Townhouse 31 gave Milan's stagnant accommodation scene a hotel that was stylish but without the frosty attitude of Milan's other design hotels. This newer Townhouse property, however, is decidedly frosty, but only because it has a dedicated Absolut Icebar, which was showcasing a rather surreal ice sculpture of The Last Supper when I visited. Gimmicks aside, this small (18 rooms) hotel is exquisitely designed, using a mix of charcoal-grey and creams, with polished floorboards and plenty of animal skin rugs. Just like Townhouse 31, breakfast is served around a communal table, creating the atmosphere that contributed to the success of the other hotel. Indeed, it's the notion that you're all 'in the know' by staying here that makes a conversation so easy to strike up - and that's something that rarely happens in a hotel that looks so cool.

This area of Milan is slowly becoming busier, and a walk down Corso Sempione reveals a fantastic aperitivo bar scene - check out Living and Huggy Bear's. A great local restaurant worth trying out is L'Altra Pharmacia.
