Address: Via san raffaele , Milan 20121, Italy Show on map
Hidden behind an historic facade just next to the Galleria Vittorio Emanuelle II, staying at this intimate, stylish, 21-room, five-star luxury hotel is more akin to joining a club than renting a room for the night. As soon as you lay eyes on the fuchsia swinging seat suspended from the ceiling here, you know that this is a hotel designed with a sense of playfulness, which is more than you can say for the decidedly 'cool' staff. The rooms, which vary in layout, are mainly cream in colour, with chocolate brown, orange and red highlights. The suites are the best rooms here - the large suites are really only worth it if you're going to use the personal gymnasium. The rooms are well-equipped and feature large flatscreen TVs, with DVD and CD players, and all have fantastic bathrooms. The hotel restaurant, Le Noir, has wonderful ever-changing mood lighting (that's actually not annoying) and fine cuisine, however the breakfast is better across the road at The Straf.

The shopping of Galleria Vittorio Emmanuelle II is in the next street and for more shopping, the Quadrilatero d'Oro is only a few minutes away, where you can pop into Caffé Cova for a coffee or champagne. As aperitivo hour approaches, head to Dolce & Gabbana's Martini Bar and sample their excellent snacks.
