If you want to wake up to views of the sun glinting off the Kremlin's golden domes, this luxurious property on the Moscow River is the place for you. The Baltschug Kempinski is a neoclassical beaut, built in 1898, with 230 high-ceilinged rooms that are sophisticated and sumptuous in design. After a recent overhaul, this long-standing institution is refreshed and rejuvenated, ready to compete with the swankiest sleeps in the capital. Marble bathrooms, down comforters and - of course - Kremlin views are just a few of the luxuries that guests enjoy at this historic hotel. Besides its prime perspective on Moscow's most famous landmark, the Baltschug Kempinski's spot south of the Kremlin also provides terrific access to the ancient, church-lined streets of Zamoskvorechie and Kitay-Gorod, Moscow's oldest neighbourhoods. The Baltschug Kempinski's Sunday brunch is a Moscow tradition. Russian shampanskoe (sparkling wine) and live jazz accompany an extravagant buffet. Note the rooms are about half-price on Friday and Saturday nights, so this is a great place for a weekend splurge.
